Talya Bauer’s research contributions span several decades. Over that time, she has contributed over 150 articles, book chapters, and white papers in four key areas of research and practical importance throughout the employee life cycle. Her work that focuses on the time before organizational entry includes recruitment, selection, applicant reactions to selection processes, overqualified applicants and employees as well as the implications of technology and selection processes.

Her work on onboarding bridges research, theory, and practice. She has contributed to better onboarding practices and understanding at organizations such as Google, Microsoft, and NASA. Her professional practice series paper for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has been influential in the practice of onboarding in countless organizations. In that publication, she first coined the phrase the 4 C’s of Onboarding which she has continued to refine into what is now the 5 C’s of Onboarding.

Talya is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Psychology. She is the former Editor of the Journal of Management. She also serves on the Editorial Boards of International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Journal of Management, Personnel Assessment and Decisions, and Personnel Psychology.
